Meet Dave and Patty Barthold
Dave Barthold   Patty Barthold
Dave started his gymnastics career in junior high school with the Swiss Turners. He competed during high school in gymnastics, soccer, track & field; which led to receiving the senior athletic award for Paramus High School. He received a 4-year gymnastics scholarship to Long Island University and competed in all events throughout his collegiate career. He was also on the soccer team and the tennis team. Dave received the Dolly King Athletic Award for outstanding athletic achievements his senior year. He did his graduate work with the gymnastics team of Southern Illinois University. Dave has been coaching boys and girls since 1974. His experience includes; boys head coach for the Turner National Team for 8 years. He has judged men's gymnastics nationally and internationally for 25 years. He was a board member for USGF from 1986 to 1988. Dave is a past state chairman and judging director for Missouri boys program and is presently on the state board for the Missouri girls program. He and Patty were the floor managers for the Gymnastics World Team Trials 1999, held in Kansas City.   Patty has been in gymnastics all of her life. Her parents and grandparents were all gymnasts as well. She grew up in the American Turners Gymnastics Society. She has been the head coach for Lee's Summit High School Varsity/JV Team since 1980. Past experience includes being a girl’s team coach for the Turner National Team for 8 years. She was a member of the National High School Rules Committee for Girls Gymnastics from 1991-1995. The Women’s Intersport Network and the K.C. Sports Commission selected Patty as the 1995 Mentor of the Year in Kansas City. She was selected the Missouri High School Girls Gymnastics Coach of the Year in 1999. She is currently the Rule Interpreter for Missouri Girls High School Gymnastics.
