DGF Swim Schedule 2008

We offer swimming lessons in our outdoor (and heated) 40' X 20' pool. 

Program Basics

 

This program will follow the American Red Cross Standards and Requirements. 

 

Infant and Preschool Aquatic Program (IPAP)           Ages 6 months - 4 years

Parent required to assist child.  This class is designed to develop a high comfort level in and around water, and also a readiness to swim.  Skills taught are water adjustment, exploration, & safety; gliding & kicking.

 

Level 1 (Water Exploration)                                                      Ages 3+

Orientation to the aquatic environment, supported floating and kicking, going under water, blowing bubbles, water safety, and how to properly use a lifejacket.

 

Level 1.5                                                                                                Ages 3+

Can do most skills in Level 1 -- not ready for level 2.

 

Level 2 (Primary Skills)                                                                Ages 4+

Floating, kicking, rhythmic breathing, turning over, front crawl, swimming under water, water safety, and how to properly use a lifejacket.

 

Level 3 (Stroke Readiness)                                                        Ages 6+

Backstroke fundamentals, crawl stroke with coordinated breathing, elementary backstroke, diving from poolside, treading water, self-rescue skills, rescue breathing, and how to properly use a lifejacket.

 

Level 4 (Stroke Refinement)                                                    Ages 7+

Building confidence, competency, and endurance on strokes, diving from different positions, breaststroke, sidestroke, deep-water bobbing, and familiarity with CPR.

 


Swim fees (all sessions) are $50.  All sessions include 8 30-minute classes.  7 classes are in the heated pool and one class is for water safety.  A Red Cross Safety Video will be shown indoors on a rainy day or the last day of class after testing.  IPAP will not have a water safety class.  Class ratio is 5:1; IPAP is 6:1.  Registration form needs to be completed no later than the 1st day of your session.  Registration forms and payments taken at front desk.  DGF accepts cash, check, MasterCard, and Visa.  There will be no refunds or make-ups.
